The Study School for Girls

COMPLETED Institutional
Westmount (QC) CA

Phase I of this complex project included the renovation of existing classroom areas, a significant enlargement of the library, and the construction of a new anchor pavilion containing administrative, laboratory, computer and music facilities. The complex network of existing structures was stabilized, reorganized and its circulation patterns made more coherent. Delicate urbam planning, zoning and neighbourhood impact issues were carefully and conscientiously addressed.

Phase II of this project involved the ambitious addition of a regulation-sized gymnasium atop existing classroom spaces and the renovation of the remainder of the complex. The large gym volume was carefully crafted in order to harmonize with, and minimize the impact on, the otherwise residential scale of the context.
